G-strings. Violent scenes of guts and gore. A patient cut open on an operating table. All acceptable in the eyes of Instagram, Facebook, and their millions of users, but images of birth? Not allowed. Too "pornographic." Too "unpleasant." Our guest today was brave enough to ask, WHY? When Katie Vigos recognized this double standard on Instagram, she set out to change the rules. Katie successfully petitioned the powers that be at Instagram and Facebook to STOP censoring photos and videos of birth and allow them to be shown for exactly what they are: realistic portrayals of birth. C-Sections, water births, home births, hospital births, babies born en-caul (so rad, look it up!)...you name it, it's been exemplified on Katie's page.
