She has advocated tirelessly on behalf of birth workers to ensure that their services are available to pregnant women everywhere, especially in underserved communities with the highest rates of infant and maternal mortality. Katy Kozimannil is the director of Minnesota’s Rural Health Research Center as well as an associate professor in the division of Health Policy and Management.
