Episode Transcript "Let's Go!"
Patti Quintero: Midwife Alex, Midwife Alex, please report to Studio Rosé.
Aleks Evanguelidi: Hi, I'm Alex, I'm a licensed midwife.
Patti: And I'm Patti, I'm a birth worker and a pre- and post- natal yoga teacher.
Aleks: We've been working with women for a long time.
Patti: And we have things we'd like to tell you.
Aleks: Things you might be curious to know, things you might not be hearing from anyone else.
Patti: Things that will help take away some of the fear and stigma surrounding your body, what it's capable of, and the choices that you can make for yourself.
Aleks: If you have a uterus, or you know someone with a uterus, if you love someone with a uterus, or if you want a uterus.
Patti: All of the above or none of the above. We're going to take you under the hood.
Aleks: Each episode we'll tackle topics that have in our opinion been underserved, maybe misunderstood, stigmatized or just flat out ignored.
Patti: And the reality is that this covers a lot.
Aleks: We'll be bringing on experts and hearing from other women because nobody knows your body like you do. And together, we're going to help pull back the curtain and unpack some of these narratives and myths we've been told about our bodies.
Patti: And the ones that we've learned to believe.
Aleks: We have a lot of work to do!
Patti: So together we're going to be talking about conception, pregnancy, the post-partum journey and all the different phases that we go through...
Aleks: Motherhood, womanhood, sisterhood.
Patti: There's so much more, and we want you to be a part of this conversation.
Aleks: Let's talk about hormones – the ones we make and the ones we take.
Patti: Our sexuality and society's expectations.
Aleks: What about menopause and what actually comes after menopause?
Patti: Intersectionality and maternal mortality.
Aleks: Puberty.
Patti: The menstrual cycle and the pill.
Aleks: We're going to teach you how to take care of your vagina.
Patti: The difference between a vagina and a vulva.
Aleks: Clitoris, can we can even say that word? Are we gonna get bleeped?
Patti: We can say that word. No one will bleep our clitoris. (Laughs)
Aleks: Don't bleep my clitoris!
